Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) awarded Rabren General Contractors the Safest in the Industry Gold Award and the STEP Gold Award for Rabren’s ongoing efforts in the development of a quality safety program for 2022. The Safest in the Industry award considers company safety culture and innovation in safety. ABC’s Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) is a safety benchmarking and improvement tool works to improve safety performance in participating companies. We participate in STEP to fulfill our goal of sending everyone home safely every day. The STEP Gold award is based on data concerning Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), OSHA incident rates, interviews with employees, 25 key components of safety, and evaluation of safety culture.
As our President and CEO, Matt Rabren, puts it, “the leadership of Rabren General Contractors is fully committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for our team members, subcontractors, and the public. This commitment to safety is a promise to ourselves, our coworkers, and the families who rely and count on us.”. Geoff Chambers, Director of Safety, and Chase Smitherman, Safety Coordinator have worked hard to ensure that our safety program continues to improve. This year, the safety team has made several improvements to Rabren’s safety best practices. These improvements include revising the site-specific safety plan, increasing communication between the safety team and jobsite leaders, and frequently visiting jobsites to confirm that protocols are being followed with the attention to detail that Rabren prides itself on. Currently, RGC’s Experience Modification Rate (EMR) is .61, well below the industry average of 1.00. Our Lost Time Incident Rate is ZERO, meaning that we had no injuries that have led to an employee having to take at least one full working day away from work. RGC is proud of these numbers, and we look forward to continuing to develop and improve.
